Working in Mariánské Lázně and where to live: spas, hotels, the season and year-round housing
Jobs in Mariánské Lázně are mainly in the spa industry, hotels, catering and services, supplemented by retail and by industry in the surrounding area. Unemployment in the Cheb district was just 4.49% in July 2026, the lowest in the Karlovy Vary Region, and the regional labour office had 3,092 vacancies on its books. Seasonality: why year-round housing pays off
The spa season in Mariánské Lázně traditionally opens in May, and the hotels are busiest from spring to autumn. Some jobs are therefore seasonal, and staff accommodation is usually tied to the employment contract — when the season ends or you change employer, the housing ends too. Anyone who wants to stay in the town needs their own long-term lease, independent of their employer. Stable housing also opens the way to better positions, which are filled year-round.
Where to live if you work in Mariánské Lázně
Ideally you want to live somewhere you can get to work by public transport without changing, and have peace and quiet in the evening. Hamrníky is a quiet residential district with a bus stop 152 m from Rezidence Pelikán; the railway station is 6 minutes away and the spa centre is within walking distance. Rent for a new one-room flat (1+kk) is CZK 7,900, the advance for all utilities is CZK 3,600 for one person, there is no commission, and you can move in as soon as the lease is signed. For a couple, housing comes to CZK 12,300 a month including utilities.

Commuting to work from Mariánské Lázně
The Cheb–Prague–Ostrava railway corridor runs through the town, so even jobs outside it are reachable without a car: Cheb is about half an hour by train, Plzeň about an hour and a quarter, Prague two to two and a half hours by express, and Karlovy Vary roughly an hour by local line or bus. If you drive, parking in Hamrníky is free.
What to think about when moving for work
